L.I.F.T. (Low-Tech Intense Functional Training) 101 is a training program designed for those who like a more "back to basics" type of training! When can your remember finding a nicely chalked handle when you bent down to help a friend move a couch? When was the last time you lifted a box onto a shelf or carried a bag of dog food and it felt like an evenly loaded barbell? Our guess is never!
Training sessions are a fun mix of fundamental strength movements (squatting, pressing, deadlifting) and the use of everyday "odd objects". Sandbags, kegs, tires, stones, logs... You name it, we're probably going to pick it up, put it down, flip it, hold it, squat it, push it, pull it, press it, and move it from point A to point B as efficiently as possible!
And just like any other type of training, exercises in this program are fully adaptable for any age and starting point. There’s no requisite strength or fitness level to participate. So whether your goal is just to add something new and fun into your current training or even prepare for competition, you've come to the right place.
Each session begins with a group warm-up, is followed by a primary strength movement (squat, press, deadlift), and concludes with a strength-based conditioning workout utilizing a variety of unique Strongman toys that only Sussex County Athletics has to offer!
